Psychotherapy
Individual
Individual therapy can help with physical, emotional, psychological, and behavioral problems that are difficult to resolve on your own. Therapy offers a supportive space for people to process experiences, set goals, unpack emotions, improve the health of relationships, and correct distorted thinking. Therapy in its most refined stages increases insight and self-awareness.
There are many modalities of psychotherapy, but research suggests the relationship between therapist and client predominantly impacts the outcome of treatment. Feeling safe and seen by your therapist is essential. My training in relational psychotherapy has instilled a warm, compassionate, non-judgmental, and collaborative approach. I regularly assess and seek to improve the therapeutic alliance.
I use an embodied approach to psychotherapy and integrate a variety of techniques depending on each patient’s individual needs. These include elements of Relational Psychoanalysis, Hermeneutic Theory, Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Yogic Psychology, Alternative Medicine, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and trauma informed treatments like Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). I offer individual psychotherapy for adolescents (13+) and adults of all ages.
Couples
Couples therapy improves the health of relationships. It can provide a safe space to talk about sensitive topics such as unequal needs for intimacy, social interaction, solitude, and independence. Furthermore, couples counseling can support an adjustment to major life transitions including: getting married, becoming parents, occupational change, recovery from addiction, moving, caring for aging parents and repairing ruptures in trust.
Couples therapy can also be preventative and is a good idea if one partner is coping with an issue that might affect the relationship. Couples therapy can stimulate meaningful dialogue and improve communication when the relationship feels empty or stagnant. It allows partners to talk through their feelings and articulate how their relationship may not be meeting their expectations. Couples therapy offers an environment where each person can feel seen, heard, and understood by the other. I have experience treating a wide array of relationship constellations ranging from heteronormative to non-conforming partnerships.
Telehealth
The COVID-19 pandemic has forever changed the landscape of mental health treatment. Telehealth (virtual therapy) has become an essential resource that is widely accessible. Furthermore, it has never been more important to sustain our mental health, as stress can drastically impact our immunity to illness and disease. Telehealth ensures that waves of quarantine will not interfere with making mental health treatment a priority. As life becomes ever more complex and demanding, our time is limited and precious. Even under normal circumstances, working professionals, busy parents, and individuals living in areas with minimal or inadequate options may prefer this way of seeing their provider. I utilize a HIPPA compliant platform that protects your privacy and confidentiality. This platform is easy to use and brings psychotherapy comfortably within reach. All you need to participate in therapy is a computer or cell phone, internet access, and a place where you can speak freely.
