Dr. Genelle Benker

I am a Doctor of Clinical Psychology, Yoga Instructor, Astrologer, and Reiki Master & Teacher. Before completing my doctorate at Antioch University Seattle I studied Yoga, Astrology, and Alternative Medicine extensively across multiple continents. This informs my unique integrative and embodied approach to the practice of psychology. I help my patients enact desired change by working directly with the bodymind.

Before founding Embodied Psychology I spent three years as a provider at a group practice in Redmond, WA. During the seven years prior I served underprivileged populations in non-profit organizations. I have a wide breadth of experience providing individual therapy to adolescents and adults. Having developed expertise working with diverse populations presenting with a broad array of psychological concerns, I consider myself an ally and advocate. I recognize that oppression leads to illness, from overt institutional policies and practices to veiled chronic micro-aggressions. I believe that our mental health mirrors our cultural/historical context and ought to be treated as such.

In therapy you can expect to reconnect with your bodily experience as the basis for meaningful dialogue. I support my patients to identify strengths, articulate goals, and align their actions with their own moral compass. I am collaborative and genuine in my work. While I strive to create a warm and safe therapeutic space, I am also direct and driven by a desire to help my patients transform. Please see my areas of expertise below.
