 Alternative Medicine

Nutrition & Herbalism

Our mental health, in fact our very being, is literally constituted by what we consume. Assessment and recommendations with regard to nutrition and herbalism are meaningful resources that enhance the practice of psychotherapy. When discussing lifestyle changes with regard to diet and supplementation I draw on extensive independent research and training. More specifically I’ve studied Ayurveda (the system of medicine indigenous to India and bound up with Yogic theory/practice), Macrobiotics (a theory/practice of nutrition primarily derived from Traditional Chinese Medicine), and Herbalism (the use of plant medicine to treat a variety of ailments). My professional development in this area is ongoing and I am currently in the process of becoming a Certified Alternative Medicine Provider.

Energy Medicine & Sound Therapy

As a Reiki master and teacher I have witnessed first-hand how energy medicine has a healing influence on the full spectrum of human suffering. Reiki has the power to enhance the body’s natural capacity for cellular repair, regulate emotional turmoil, relieve stress, boost the body’s immunity to illness and disease, and heal trauma. For these reasons the use of energy medicine augments the practice of psychotherapy, increasing its efficacy.

My study and direct experience reveals that sound therapy elicits altered states of consciousness and heightens the impact of energy medicine. As I absorb new information and develop new skills I have begun to include sound therapy into my energy medicine practice. Even at rudimentary levels my patients report this combination amplifies relaxation and results in more restorative outcomes.
