Astrology
As stated on the ‘about Embodied Psychology page’, my philosophical approach recognizes our physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual development as undeniably shaped by the movement of astral bodies. Human beings have been looking at the sky, studying and making meaning from the cycles of these astral bodies since the dawn of time. I have found reading the birth chart and tracking these cycles is a psychological practice in itself that deepens the process of treatment.
In my practice I integrate Astrology based on interest and willingness. Some see me for readings only while others use it as an essential part of ongoing treatment. Ideally I would read the birth chart at the outset of treatment and then use the current movement of these astral bodies to view my patient’s difficulties from a broader vantage point. This offers new perspective that often relieves distress and generates insight. The variety of readings I offer result in strategies that help my patients resolve conflicts and improve relationships with those closest to them.
What are Readings & Why get them?
An initial individual astrology reading maps out where all the planets, asteroids, and constellations were at the time of your birth and interprets that map to create a meaningful narrative about your personality features, strengths and weaknesses of character, and behavioral patterns. This map is called a birth chart, which I like to think of as the constellation of you. The birth chart is the basis for other types of readings.
Individual follow up readings look more deeply at transits, or the current movement of the astral bodies and how they activate your birth chart. Broadly speaking, transits look at how the astral bodies influence or exert a gravitational pull on the constellation of you. These transits can tell us a great deal about your current circumstances, issues you are facing, the lessons inherent in your life transitions, and potential periods of loss, gain, or change. Follow up readings give perspective on or insight into your present moment experience.
There are two possible ways to approach readings for one-one relationships (such as couples, family members, friendships, business partners, etc). Regardless of the approach, each person in the relationship needs to have their individual birth chart drawn up and interpreted. Then the pair can choose to have a synastry reading, a composite reading, or both. The synastry reading looks at the compatibility between charts and the composite reading is an interpretation of the relationship itself.
Group readings for 3 or more individuals (such as families, executive leadership teams, sports teams, etc) can only take the form of a synastry reading, which looks at the possible dynamics between members of a group, such as compatibility, strengths and weaknesses, possible places of conflict, and how to optimally function as a team.
